(WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Oneida tribal chairman Gerald Danforth has died, according to an obituary.
The obituary says he died suddenly on Sunday. He was 78.
Danforth served two stints as chairman, being elected in 1999 and 2005.
Danforth also served as a judicial officer of the Oneida Appeals Commission.
Danforth was a 30-year Navy veteran, retiring with the rank of Force Master Chief.
A visitation is set for Friday afternoon, with funeral services on Saturday.
