ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Rockers are hoping it will be more convenient for fans to park when they attend home games this year at Capital Credit Union Park.
300 new parking spots are available next door to the team’s Ashwaubenon stadium, where construction is underway on two five-story apartment buildings at the corner of Cormier Road and Holmgren Way.
“Beforehand, we’d have to park on the street, or we’d try to go into the other lots nearby,” said Lori Roethlisberger of Ashwaubenon. “Having it right here is really going to be an asset for the whole program.”
Roethlisberger has been a player host for the Rockers for six years. She plans to be at every game this summer and plans to park in the new lot.
“By opening up all of this land here and making it parking, it’s going to be really beneficial for the players and all the fans coming to the games,” said Roethlisberger.
“There’s a walkway that actually goes all the way from Epic Event Center, all the way to the stadium, and then parking in between, so it will kind of be used for both facilities,” said John Fanta, the Rockers’ vice president and general manager.
Fanta says the new lot should be blacktopped next week.
“There’s going to be 300 dedicated spaces within a two-minute walk to the stadium, so it’ll provide easy access,” said Fanta. “There’s an entry and exit area over there, so there should be no issues.”
As for the apartments, there’s going to be 152 units. The plan is they’ll be ready for residents next year.
“Hopefully those people who live there, who choose to live there, they’re fans and they’ll come over to the games even,” said Roethlisberger.
