FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Fond du Lac Police Department is investigating the negligent discharge of a firearm from Sunday night after a man shot a rifle inside his own home which ultimately damaged his neighbor’s house.
According to a release from Chief Aaron Goldstein, the 42-year-old will be referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office for a charge of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. That’s a misdemeanor.
Around 8:50 p.m. Sunday night FDLPD officers were dispatched to the area of Central Ave. and Morris St. after a homeowner reported hearing a loud noise which was followed by damage to their home and windows. After investigating officers found evidence that the damage came from a gun that had been fired from a neighboring home.
Officers deployed a drone to ensure the safety of anyone inside the house. Shortly after the resident who shot the gun contacted dispatch and voluntarily cooperated with the investigation, admitting he shot his gun inside his house.
