APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former high school teacher was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.
Appleton police are recommending Rebecca Ryan be charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child by a school staff member. No formal charges have been filed yet, according to online court records.
Investigators say the contact with a 17-year-old student took place during the 2017-18 school year, when Ryan was a teacher at Appleton West High School. Ryan is no longer working as a teacher, according to the police department.
Police say the incidents were first reported to them last month.
Police say there is no evidence other students were involved.
