SHAWANO COUNTY (WTAQ-WLUK) — A tornado touched down in western Shawano County Monday night, the National Weather Service has confirmed.
According to NWS, the tornado touched down just after 10 p.m. a mile south of Mattoon in the town of Hutchins. It was just west of the intersection of Park Avenue and Ranch Road.
Information on wind speeds was not yet available.
Damage reports included trees and power lines down across town with some poles even being snapped.
Wisconsin Public Service reported about 800 customers without power Tuesday morning. By early afternoon, that number was down to around 100.
