TOWN OF MONTPELIER, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One person died and eight others were injured in a crash Saturday in Kewaunee County.
Just before 4:45 p.m., the sheriff’s department was dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of County Highway AB and County Highway F in the town of Montpelier.
Authorities determined a Toyota SUV traveling westbound on CTH F failed to stop at the controlled intersection and struck a Chevy SUV traveling northbound on CTH AB.
Five people were inside the Toyota SUV, which was driven by a 29-year-old male from Green Bay. All of them sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Four people were inside the Chevy SUV, which was driven by a 72-year-old De Pere man. One of the passengers in that vehicle died at the scene, and the driver and two other passengers were hurt. They were taken to a hospital.
One of the injured individuals was airlifted.
Officials said in a news release the extent of the injuries to those involved are unknown at the time. Names have not been released.
An investigation is underway by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team.
