GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The waterslide structure at the Joannes Aquatic Center needs repairs, with the city hoping to have the work done before the swimming season begins.
According to the agenda item for next week’s Finance Committee, the cost is estimated at $52,600.
“Our target completion date is June 7, 2025, which we believe is very achievable. At the latest, we are committed to completing the project by June 27, 2025,” the memo to the city from Justin Pupp from Beson & Houle states.
June 7 is the scheduled opening day for Joannes, Colburn and Resch pools, according to the city’s website.
According to the 29-page “Structural Assessment Report,” several areas of concern were identified after an April 8 inspection of the slides, which were built in 1996.
Pupp’s memo says the quoted price includes the following scope of work:
- Furnishing and installing approximately 14 support brackets
- All necessary hardware
- Applying the Tnemec paint system finish coat on all new steel
- Providing all necessary shoring
The repairs come as the city is in the early stages of discussing the long-term future of the center, including up to $10 million in various renovations and additions to the park, 1430 E. Walnut Street.
The Finance Committee meets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in 207 of City Hall, 100 N. Jefferson Street.
