MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Ryan Schroeder, a Mishicot physical education teacher, admitted to having sex with a student more than fifty times during a nearly-two-year-period, starting when the victim was 14 – including having sex at least ten times inside the high school, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.
Schroeder, 37, faces 16 charges, including ten counts of possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child, second-degree sexual assault, and sexual assault of a student by school staff member.
Schroeder had a bail appearance last week, where a $150,000 cash bond was set. He returns to court this afternoon for a formal initial appearance.
According to the criminal complaint, the encounters started about Aug. 1, 2023, and continued into this month. The girl was 14 when the assaults began.
“Schroeder admitted he was having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 since 2023, continuously through 2025, and most recently at the end of March 2025. Schroeder admitted having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 over 50 separate times with VICTIM 1 from 2023-2025. Schroeder admitted to having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 inside of Mishicot High School over 10 times from 2023-2025,” the complaint states.
Some of the videos show the two engaged in sexual activities. There are also “selfie” photos, showing the girl in states of undress.
The complaint also identifies a second victim. Schroeder and that female exchanged nude photos, the complaint alleges.
