OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Oshkosh is aiming to modernize parking management with the release of a new digital parking permit process.
Officials say this platform will eliminate their current paper-based system and instead, allow users to apply for, purchase and manage their parking permits online.
“This new initiative will streamline the parking permit process, enhance user convenience, and bolster city parking management efficiency, reducing the need for manual processing,” a news release from the city states.
Under the new digital system, parking permits will be virtual and linked to vehicle license plates. Transactions will require a credit or debit card and an email address.
The pricing structure is as follows:
- City-Owned Parking Lots: $3.00 Daily Pass, $30.00 Monthly Pass, $360.00 Annual Pass
- Street Parking: $10.00 Monthly, $120.00 Annual
- 3-Month Permit: $30.00 (valid only in the “University Parking Area”)
- 9-Month Permit: $90.00 (valid only in the “University Parking Area”)
- Hourly parking on High Avenue and Osceola Street: $1.25 per hour
The area designated as the “University Parking Area” extends from Jackson Street at the Fox River to Congress Avenue, encompassing various streets.
Beginning Monday, users will be able to purchase on-street parking permits and parking permits for city-owned lots via the new system. On July 1, the city will launch hourly paid parking areas on High Avenue and Osceola Street.
The city of Oshkosh joins the ranks of neighboring cities like Green Bay and Appleton, modernizing parking management by prioritizing user-friendly, efficient parking solutions. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to utilizing technology to enhance civic services while meeting the needs of our residents and visitors.
