APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Adonay Dalis-Ramirez was sentenced Friday to one year in jail for his role in a theft of more than $38,000 from a Kaukauna ATM.
Dalis-Ramirez, 35, was previously convicted of theft of movable property for the July 5 incident at the Unison Credit Union, 1000 W. Hyland Avenue.
Before the sentence was issued, Dalis-Ramirez declined to address the court.
Dalis-Ramirez was one of six people charged for the theft. The others:
- Yeniaker Avila-Acevedo was sentenced to three months in jail
- Jesse Duque-Escobar was sentenced to a year in jail
- Manuel Pina-Gonzalez was sentenced to a year in jail
- Andres Escobar-Rodriguez has a pre-trial conference May 21
- Johamnel Ortiz-Sanchez has a pre-trial conference May 9
Security video captured images of several people in two vehicles “repeatedly accessing the ATM and manipulating it, then removing a large amount of cash, approximately $38,000.00,” the complaint states. The thieves had staged in a nearby parking lot, then made 48 trips to the ATM. The credit union suspected the thieves had a master key, a small gold key with a rounded base and teeth on both sides. Police later pulled over two vehicles seen on the video, and arrested the six, the criminal complaint states.
Although the criminal complaint says about $38,000 was stolen, a restitution request for $45,174.58 has been submitted, court records show.
