(WTAQ-REUTERS) — Hundreds gathered in Green Bay and Appleton Saturday to take part in a nationwide protest effort by left-leaning political groups, labor unions, and civil rights organizations against President Donald Trump.
The so-called “Hands Off!” demonstration in Green Bay, one of 1,200 taking place across the country Saturday, had, according to organizers, around 1,500 in attendance.
“This is an enormous demonstration that is sending a very clear message to Musk and Trump and congressional Republicans and all the goose-stepping allies of MAGA that we don’t want their hands on our democracy, on our communities, on our schools and our friends and our neighbors,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, one of the groups organizing Saturday’s events.
Indivisible, which formed after Trump’s first election in 2016, has worked with other liberal groups, including MoveOn and the Working Families Party, to unite progressive organizations nationwide.
Demonstrators held signs decrying President Trump and Elon Musk, a Trump adviser and head of the US DOGE Service, colloquially known as the Department of Government Efficiency.
Hundreds of protestors also turned out in Appleton on Saturday.
