GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin is hosting its annual Pinwheels for Prevention campaign display.
The campaign is a nationwide initiative to bring awareness to child abuse prevention with each pinwheel planted representing a child helped this year due to allegations of neglect, abuse or other forms of maltreatment in the region.
The center’s program director hopes the display will help create more child abuse prevention programs.
“Our hope is that the garden will serve as a reminder to the community of the importance of providing child abuse prevention programs. These programs give children vital skills to protect their bodies, but also they give skills to families to help support them and move forward as well,” said Willow Tree Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center manager Kristie Sickel.
The Pinwheels for Prevention campaign goes through the end of April.
