
Oshkosh home a complete loss from afternoon fire. PC: Fox 11 Online
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A house is considered a complete loss after a fire engulfed the home Monday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the fire in the 1300 block of Liberty Street at 2:20 p.m., with heavy smoke and fire at the back of the house when they arrived.
According to the Oshkosh Fire Department, the fire spread quickly across the entire residence.
The building was home to a family of six, with five of the residents home at the time of the fire.
One of the residents was sent to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Two others were checked out on the scene for smoke inhalation, but declined transportation to the hospital.
It was initially reported that two cats and two dogs were lost in the fire. However, both dogs were able to make it out safely and the cats were never found.
The family is being assisted by The American Red Cross.
Oshkosh FD received mutual aid from: the Town of Oshkosh Fire Department, The Omro Rushford Fire Department, Fox Crossing Fire Department, and The Neenah/Menasha Fire Rescue.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
