MARSHFIELD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Illinois woman was issued citations after a head-on crash in Fond du Lac County that injured her four-year-old child.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. Sunday on County Highway G near County Highway GG in the town of Marshfield.
Deputies say the driver of a southbound vehicle, a 26-year-old Illinois woman, crossed the center line on a curve on County Highway G and struck a northbound vehicle.
The southbound vehicle had a four-year-old child in the backseat. The child sustained a significant head injury and was later taken to Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee for further care.
The Illinois woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital.
The northbound vehicle was driven by a 51-year-old St. Cloud man and a 50-year-old woman from St. Cloud was his passenger. Both occupants of this vehicle were treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
The Illinois woman was issued citations for operating a vehicle left of center causing injury and for operating a motor vehicle with a child aged 4-8 years old not in a proper restraint seat.
County Highway G was shut down for approximately two and a half hours to allow for emergency vehicles to respond.
The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
