Lawrence 16, Beloit 6
APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s lacrosse team grabbed its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory Wednesday with a 16-6 win over Beloit College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Lawrence used a balanced attack with three goals apiece from Iori Yamada, Judah Goehring and Brody Herr. Finn Anderson, Henry Hayes and Camden Waters added two goals apiece for the Vikings (3-5, 1-2 NACC).
Emmett Eischens led Lawrence with three assists, and Robbie Spielmann added a pair of assists. Goalkeeper Gavin Reiter made 11 saves to pick up the win for Lawrence. The Vikings had a 40-34 edge in shots for the game.
Yamada and Goehring staked the Vikings to an early 2-0 lead, and the Vikings later scored five consecutive goals, including two from Goehring, for a 7-1 lead. Anderson scored twice in the second quarter to stake the Vikings to an 11-3 lead at the half.
Beloit never got closer than an eight-goal deficit in the second half.
Lawrence went 4-for-5 on extra-man opportunities, and Beloit was 2-for-6. The Vikings posted a 31-19 edge in ground balls.
Women
Beloit 17, Lawrence 5
BELOIT, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s lacrosse team fell behind early and dropped a 17-5 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Beloit College on Wednesday.
The Bucs jumped out to a 7-0 lead at Strong Stadium and pulled away to an 11-1 lead at the half.
Lawrence got four goals from Lydia Lueck, and Sophia Labrecque added the other score for the Vikings (1-4, 0-1 NACC). Evelyn Pryadkin picked up 15 saves in goal for Lawrence.
Lueck got the Vikings on the board with 9:50 left in the first half, added two more goals in the third quarter and picked another up in the fourth. Labrecque completed the scoring for the Vikings.
Beloit (4-1, 1-0) posted a 41-11 edge in shots and a 25-10 advantage in ground balls.
