(WTAQ-WLUK) — Citizens in Northeast Wisconsin will have a chance to share their views on how the state should spend tax money over the next two years.
As it prepares its 2025-27 state budget proposal, the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee is holding a series of public hearings. One of those is April 2 at Kaukauna High School.
Other hearings are set for April 4 in West Allis, April 28 in Hayward and April 29 in Wausau.
Hearings are set to run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Attendees will be asked to fill out a form to be added to a queue to testify.
Comments can also be submitted on the committee’s website or by emailing budget.comments@legis.wisconsin.gov.
The budget process began in February with Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ budget address. The Republican-controlled Legislature will come up with its budget proposal in late spring and early summer, and send it to Evers for his signature.
The new two-year cycle begins July 1, but if the budget is not approved by then, spending continues at current levels until a new budget is approved
