GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new ramp closure begins Monday as part of the I-41 expansion project from Appleton to De Pere. Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will close the southbound (SB) I-41 off-ramp to WIS 96/Wisconsin Avenue .
The reconstruction work includes adding auxiliary lanes between the WIS 96 and WIS 15 interchanges, constructing dual turn lanes on the SB off-ramp, and adding bicycle and pedestrian accommodations within the project limits. It’s part of the overall I-41 expansion project that will reconstruct and expand 23 miles of I-41 from four lanes to six lanes between WIS 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) in Appleton and County F (Scheuring Road) in De Pere.
The 41SB off-ramp closure at Wisconsin Avenue is in addition to the partial closure of the I-41/Hwy. 15 interchange.

Drivers who typically exit at Wisconsin Avenue can detour at College Avenue until the ramp reopens in summer.
The I-41 Project is reconstructing and expanding 23 miles of I-41 from WIS 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) and County F (Scheuring Road), from four lanes to six lanes. The project will reconstruct the system interchange at the junction of I-41and WIS 441, and it will reconstruct or improve the nine existing service interchanges and 11 overpasses and underpasses within the project limits. A new service interchange at I-41 and Southbridge Road will also be constructed as part of this project. The project also includes the construction of additional auxiliary lanes or collector-distributor roadways between interchanges where warranted; a new combined Wrightstown Post and Safety and Weight Enforcement Facility (SWEF); improvements to existing park and ride facilities along the corridor; and an increase in county maintenance salt storage capacity.
