OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oshkosh Area School District’s consolidation plan is moving forward with a $197 million referendum.
This comes just as residents finish paying off the last referendum that was approved back in 2020 and cost $107 million.
It was for the first phase of the plan which included consolidating three northside elementary and middle schools.
The district held the first of many community listening sessions Tuesday night at Oshkosh North High School.

Phase two aims to consolidate two elementary schools and two middle schools, as well as to provide updates to existing schools.

Superintendent Bryan Davis says the district has been getting a lot of questions on the financial impact of the referendum.
“Our board has been very strategic about pre-paying debt from previous referendums to be able to make sure that as we bring on new debt, it will have a zero dollar impact to the debt levy,” said Davis.
Questions asked at the information session include clarity on the zoning issue for South Park Elementary School’s renovation.
According to the district’s website, phase three of the plan is set to begin in 2029. A start date for phase four has not been decided.
It’s yet to be seen if referendums will be required for either phase — and if so, how much each would cost taxpayers.
