APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Appleton should contract with Wisconsin Entertainment Group LLC to operate the festivities associated with the Independence Day fireworks at Memorial Park, according to a memo from staff.
The Appleton Jaycees organized the festival – including food, music, vendors and more – until 2023, when they stepped down as hosts. In 2024, Appleton still hosted the July 3 fireworks at Memorial Park, but there were no other events. The city published a request for proposals from those willing to operate the events, and received two submissions.
According to the memo from Parks and Recreation Director Dean Gazza, the proposal from Wisconsin Entertainment Group scored a 66.50, while the offer from Compassionate Home Health Care Inc., scored a 27.17.
“Overall, the evaluation team unanimously recommends Wisconsin Entertainment Group and requests the committee/council approve a memorandum of understanding to provide events and manage the City of Appleton Independence Day Celebration,” he wrote. “This agreement would be for a term of three years with two optional extensions for an additional two years each.”
According to its website: “Wisconsin Entertainment Group is a dynamic consortium of seasoned professionals dedicated to delivering seamless and efficient event services. By combining their extensive expertise, they offer a one-stop solution for all your event needs and ensure that every detail is meticulously handled. Whether it’s a corporate function, community festival or major event, Wisconsin Entertainment Group is committed to making your gathering a resounding success.”
It cites the Fox Cities Experience in Menasha as among the events it has produced.
The Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss the matter at 6:15 p.m. Monday in the council chambers on the sixth floor of City Hall, 100 N. Appleton Street.
