APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Appleton received two submissions after it requested proposals from organizations willing to operate the festivities associated with its Independence Day fireworks.
The Appleton Jaycees organized the festival – including food, music, vendors and more – until 2023, when they stepped down as hosts. In 2024, Appleton still hosted the July 3 fireworks at Memorial Park, but there were no other events.
After Monday’s 2 p.m. deadline, Appleton Parks Director Dean Gazza said the city received a pair of proposals.
The city will have various departments – police, fire, parks, public works, etc. – review them before bringing the issue to aldermen for review.
The Parks Committee meets next Jan. 20, but it’s not clear if it will be on that agenda yet.
