(WLUK) — A 36-year-old man is in custody after a standoff that lasted more than three hours in Shawano County.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 9:51 p.m. Saturday night for a man who entered a residence with two firearms in the Village of Wittenberg.
The man was believed to be intoxicated and, after a brief struggle, ran into a nearby residence, leaving one of the firearms on scene.
Multiple agencies responded to the call including the Marathon County Multi-Agency S.W.A.T. Team.
Several nearby residences were ordered to evacuate and a shelter was provided at the Wittenberg Village Hall.
The suspect was taken into custody early Sunday at 1:17 a.m.
The man is currently being held at the Shawano County Jail and several felony charges were referred to the Shawano County District Attorney’s Office.
