(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s basketball team defeated IU Indy, 83-50, on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (2-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) were led by Halle Vice who had her first career double-double with 14 point and 11 boards. The sophomore guard set new career-highs in points and rebounds in the first half.
Fellow sophomore Skylar Forbes joined Vice in double-figures with 15 points and five rebounds. Lee Volker and Olivia Porter added nine points each.
Marquette led for 35 minutes and 20 seconds of game action and led by double digits for the last 25 plus minutes. The Golden Eagles dominated in the paint, outscoring the Jaguars 42-16 and won 24-5 in fast break points. MU held IU Indy to 11 points or less the last three quarters.
IU Indy (1-5, 0-0 HL) was led by Azyah Newson-Cole, who had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

- First game this season Marquette has shot 50-percent or better from the field and 3-point line.
- Second game in a row all 12 players checked into the game for MU.
- Bridget Utberg hit Marquette a career-high two 3-pointers.
UP NEXT: Marquette travels to Piscataway, N.J. on Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29 for the Battle on the Banks, a two-game MTE hosted by Rutgers. MU plays Rutgers on Friday at 1 p.m. CT and Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT.
