(WNFL/LEARFIELD) MADISON – John Blackwell scored a career-high 30 points as he and the Wisconsin Badgers avoided an upset loss to UT-Rio Grande Valley at home Monday night.
The Vaqueros led by four points at the half, but Wisconsin won 87-84.
Blackwell’s two clutch free throws with two seconds left helped seal the victory.
Blackwell said that it was great to finish this game off.
John Tonje added 19 points after lighting Arizona up with 41 Friday night.
The Badgers’ Max Klesmit talked about the struggles of the team’s defense.
Klesmit said that the Badgers who trailed at halftime 52-48 held each other accountable.
The undefeated Badgers take on Central Florida Friday in the first round of the Greenbrier Tip-Off tournament Friday.
