APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Ahead of the Appleton Area School District opening its 17th elementary school, it will hold listening sessions on school boundaries.
Next fall the district will open Sandy Slope Elementary School on the northeast side of Appleton, near Appleton North High School.
To prepare for this, Superintendent Greg Hartjes and the district are gathering community input on boundaries for Sandy Slope Elementary School.
These new boundaries will determine student enrollment at Sandy Slope. The goal is to balance enrollment, staffing, and student support across all Appleton schools.
Families from Huntley and Ferber Elementary Schools have been invited to these sessions, as their potential boundaries are adjacent to Sandy Slope’s anticipated attendance area. However, all members of the wider community can attend and share their input or ask questions.
During the sessions, an overview of school attendance boundaries on the north side of the district will be provided, and any questions will be answered.
