DAIRY NEWS – Dairy Managers Institute®, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP), is designed for dairy producers and other professionals looking to attract, recruit and maintain a highly skilled team of employees working toward the same goals. Offered with simultaneous translation into Spanish, the program is structured in three successive tiers to help attendees build strong teams through a high level of leadership, communications and coaching skills.
The two-day workshop will be held Dec. 10-11, 2024, at PDP Headquarters in Juneau, Wis. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tues., Dec. 10, and conclude at 4:00 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 11. Participants will select one of the three workshop tiers to complete.
- Tier One will be facilitated by Dr. Becky Stewart-Gross, PhD, president and founder of Building Bridges Seminars. Her session, “Lead and Manage with Insight,” will focus on the fundamentals of leadership, understanding one’s own leadership style and implementing change more effectively.
- Michael Hoffman, founder and owner of Igniting Performance, Inc., will lead Tier Two. Through, “Master the Art of Coaching,” he’ll provide practical strategies and insights into coaching team members, delivering effective feedback and building a greater sense of ownership and involvement among each member.
- Dr. Kevin Bernhardt, PhD, University of Wisconsin-Platteville agribusiness professor and UW-Extension farm and management specialist, and Linda Swindling, author and founder of Journey On!, will present Tier Three, “Nail the Financials and Negotiations.” Participants will learn the fundamentals of a farm’s financials and reporting, recognizing different negotiation styles and how to leverage them, and developing relationships in negotiations that benefit everyone.
“While leaders might prefer to work with the cows, an important part of their job is to work with people, too,” said Shelly Mayer, dairy producer and executive director of PDP. “Dairy Managers Institute will equip attendees with the tools to manage, engage and develop high-performing teams – even if working with ‘people issues’ goes against their natural inclination.”
Registration is now open; dairy professionals are encouraged to register their teams today. Registration fee includes materials and meals during sessions. For more details and lodging information visit www.pdpw.org or contact PDP at 800-947-7379.
