GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The NFL and the Green Bay Packers welcomed 88 Wisconsin businesses to Lambeau Field Monday afternoon to provide more information on how they could help put on the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
The businesses were chosen out of hundreds that applied to be considered for work related to the draft.
“We just heard back last week that we were in,” said Jamie Peotter, owner of Roots on 9th Flower Shop in Green Bay. “That’s what the email said, ‘You’re in.’ It was really exciting.”
Roots on 9th Flower Shop joined dozens of others who’ve been conditionally accepted into the 2025 NFL Draft Source Program.
“Rest assured, we’ve gone through your websites and your social media platforms and marketing materials and reviewed all those things to determine that you are, in fact, event ready and ready to help us put on this draft, so really congratulations,” said Myisha Boyce, NFL Draft source lead.
The business owners welcomed into the program come from disadvantaged groups, which include women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ and veterans. It’s the NFL’s way to promote equitable and inclusive procurement practices.
However, a spot in the group doesn’t guarantee work.
“The program guarantees that you will be exposed to these buyers,” said Boyce.
Image Studios, a woman-owned business out of Appleton, already received its first NFL gig: capturing video and pictures of Monday’s gathering.
“Easy process, friendly people and we’re just so excited about what’s all in store for Green Bay and to be on this world platform,” said Donna Gehl, Image Studios president & CEO.
The main focus for putting together this network of businesses is, of course, the draft in April. However, organizers say this directory will live on and businesses could get NFL-related opportunities even after the draft is over.
“I think it’s going to put me in a high level,” said Daniel Wilder, who owns a demo and hauling business out of Milwaukee. “A lot of people are going to want to talk to me after being with the NFL, right?”
Businesses were warned to always be ready.
“When I tell you, the NFL moves at a speed you will not believe, it is uncomfortable at times,” said Boyce.
From here on out, the NFL could be calling at any time.
