WHITEWATER, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — An Illinois man will stand trial in the August shooting death of a UW-Whitewater student.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Chad Richards shot 21-year-old Kara Welsh multiple times at a downtown Whitewater apartment.
Welsh, a national champion and two-time All-American gymnast, died at the scene.
Richards had his preliminary hearing Friday.
He’s charged with first-degree intentional homicide and is being held in the Walworth County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
