RIPON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris plans to campaign in the town where the Republican Party was born — and she will be joined by a prominent Republican supporter.
Harris is scheduled to speak in Ripon Thursday, with Republican former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney appearing with her.
Cheney announced her support for Harris last month. She also said her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, plans to vote for Harris.
The event at Ripon College is in the same city as the Little White Schoolhouse, a national historic landmark known as the site of meetings that formed the Republican Party in 1854.
A senior Harris campaign official says she plans to emphasize her dedication to the Constitution, America’s fundamental principles and the rule of law. While Republicans may not agree with her on many issues, Harris is expected to highlight her endorsements from prominent Republicans.
Harris’ Republican opponent, Donald Trump, is scheduled to speak in Dodge County on Sunday.
