PLATTEVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man whose body was found last week in southwestern Wisconsin most recently lived in Waupaca, police say.
Two people walking near a trail found the body Monday in a wooded area in Platteville. On Friday, police announced the man was identified as Derek A. Eastlick, 43.
Police are still investigating why Eastlick was in the area and how he died.
Platteville police last had contact with Eastlick on Aug. 16, when they pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation. Eastlick, a passenger in the vehicle, got out and ran off. Police tried to find him, but could not.
At the time, Eastlick had a warrant for his arrest from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Anyone who has information about where Eastlick was or what he was doing between Aug. 16 and Sept. 2 is asked to call police at (608) 348-2313.
