(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 in 10 innings at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Wednesday, allowing the Cardinals to win the series 2-games-to-1.
Luken Baker drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the tenth for St. Louis who scored 2 runs in the first inning on bases-loaded walks to Ivan Herrera and Lars Nootbar.
Colin Rea started for the Brewers, gave up 2 runs in the first inning and lasted only 4 in his start.
Rea talked about his first inning struggle.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about Rea’s overall performance.
Rea said that the Brewers just haven’t executed as of late.
Murphy said there is frustration with the offense in this loss.
One thing that helped the Brewers was a 4-inning performance by Brewers reliever DL Hall. Hall shut out the Cardinals over his 4 innings and saved a tired bullpen.
Joel Payamps got the loss in relief after giving up the go-ahead run in the 10th.
Eric Haase slugged a solo shot and Joey Ortiz also drove in a run for Milwaukee.
The Brewers are idle today before opening a 3-game weekend series with the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
