GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — You can see the green and gold off next week when the Packers take off for their international game to Brazil.
The Green Bay Packers will kick off their regular season in São Paulo against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Sept. 6.
If you’re among the fans not making the trip to the “Land of Palm Trees,” you can help send the team off at Green Bay’s Austin Straubel airport (GRB).
Flight times are subject to change, but as of Wednesday, the American Airlines B777-300ER plane is scheduled to arrive at GRB on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 4:20 a.m. and depart with the team for São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) at 7:20 a.m.
The Packers are scheduled to return on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11:15 a.m.
The GRB Observation Lot has free parking, or plane spotters can park in the parking lot for a fee and walk towards the fence.
“It’s always a joy to see fans fly out of GRB to see the Packers play, and even more so when it’s a game outside the U.S.,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “It adds another level of excitement among the fans and one that creates memories of a lifetime.”
Inside the airport that week, there will be fun and festive Packers themed decorations throughout the terminal. This includes pre-security photo opportunities with mannequins dressed for Carnival and the famous Brazilian soccer player Pele. Post-security will feature art exhibits of vintage travel posters promoting travel to Brazil from the 1920’s to 1960’s.
