DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Andre Jacque addressed his supporters Tuesday night, announcing his defeat in the state’s Republican primary election.
Jacque also faced former state Sen. Roger Roth in the primary.
Jacque spoke at the Cedar Creek at De Pere Events Center, where a watch party was held, shortly before 10:30 p.m., where he wished Tony Wied the best of luck in November’s general election.
He also was quick to thank his family and others for their support throughout his campaign.
With more than a decade of experience in the state legislature Jacque hoped that would have convinced voters to send him to Washington D.C.
“Running was something I was meant to do, did not know if I was meant to win. Obviously, god tonight showed us another path,” said Jacque. “So, D.C. is not in the cards and that’s okay. I’m not going anywhere, again I’m proud of the work that we’ve done together and what’s ahead.”
Jacque was endorsed by the National Association of Police Organizations, Texas Republican Senator, Ted Cruz, and Wisconsin’s 6th District Congressman Glenn Grothman.
Now, Jacque says his focus will remain on completing his term as state senator for the first district.
