Heinzel is no stranger to the Case IH Coliseum at the Wisconsin State Fair, though this year she will be handing out ribbons, instead of competing for them.
The best 11 days of summer commence each August with the start of the Wisconsin State Fair! State Fair holds a special place in my heart after working with the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board in Dairy Lane, educating consumers, and getting to meet my first Alice in Dairyland, 75th Alice, Taylor Schaefer. Returning this year will look a little different, and I’m ready!
Not to worry, I’ll still get my fill of Dairy Lane while serving as the 77th Alice in Dairyland. This year I’ll get to be the “industry professional” who’s on the microphone during cow and goat milking demonstrations each day, instead of the person doing the milking. I’ll also spend a little time each day visiting with the cows, goats, and fairgoers who pass through the area. Be sure to stop on by the Lower Cattle Barn to learn more about dairy’s $45.6 billion impact on our state’s economy!
I’m also looking forward to exploring different parts of the Wisconsin State Fair, some of which I’ll see for the first time! During my daily stage appearance in the Wisconsin Products Pavilion, fairgoers can cool off in air conditioning as we make a special treat together. Be sure to visit the many Something Special from Wisconsin members who have booths in the building. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection booth will also be near the stage in case you have any questions for them afterwards. Check the available stage schedule each day to see who else will be presenting.
The Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation’s “I Love the Wisconsin State Fair” Auction offered the opportunity to spend some time with me on a “Fair Food Frenzy” with behind-the-scenes visits to the Milk House, the Cream Puff Pavilion, and the Wisconsin Products Pavilion. I look forward to meeting this years’ winners and enjoy some delicious fair foods with them! You can bid to spend the day with the 78th Alice in Dairyland at next years’ auction, typically taking place in June!
Youth livestock exhibitors from all over the state dedicate large amounts of time getting their animal ready to show at the fair. I’ll be stopping by the shows in the Coliseum, watching the rabbits and poultry strut their stuff in the small animal tent, and visiting the swine and goat barn to see all of their hard work come to fruition. You can view show ring schedules and barn schedules to plan your trip around seeing your favorite livestock during your visit.
The Governor’s Blue Ribbon auctions, the Centennial Breakfast, Grand Champion Eats and Treats, the Futurity Show, and many more events will help to fill these amazing 11 days of summer all across the Wisconsin State Fair Park. You can follow along with my daily highlights on Facebook and Instagram.
I’m excited to celebrate the dedication of our exhibitors and the impact agriculture has on our state during the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair with you all. Learn more and plan your visit at WIStateFair.com.
