KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A house fire Tuesday in Kaukauna caused an estimated $65,000 in damages.
Around 1:40 p.m., the Kaukauna Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 317 Park Street. Firefighters arrived within three minutes and found smoke coming from the west side of the home through a broken window.
The fire was quickly extinguished. Officials say no residents or pets were in the home because smoke detectors notified the family of the fire.
The resident was alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors before entering her residence upon returning.
After an investigation, the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature. Damage is estimated at approximately $65,000. The homeowners and their five children are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Officials remind the public to be diligent in checking smoke detectors.
“These devices can also alert passersby and neighbors, leading to a quicker response from the fire department and potentially saving lives and preventing significant property damage,” a news release says.
