NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) — A fresh look for a popular spot in Neenah.
After being built in 1972, Pickard Auditorium, part of the Shattuck Performing Arts Center at Neenah Middle School, will soon be undergoing some renovations.
“It’s a change to make it more aesthetically pleasing, more handicap accessible, and a different look for the lobby area and the exterior of the building,” said district communications manager Jim Strick.
The proposal would upgrade the seats in Pickard, while creating a center aisle and accessible seating areas. The auditorium and lobby would receive new carpeting, lighting, HVAC and acoustics.
The plan would also update the exterior entrance to the Performing Arts Center. No major structural changes are part of the plan. The facility will still seat nearly 1,500 people and look very similar to the new Performing Arts Center at Neenah High School.
The project will cost about $4.5 million, which will be paid for entirely through fundraising.
Work is currently ongoing in putting together a fundraising committee to kick off the official fundraising campaign. Those interested in assisting with the committee should contact Jon Joch at the District Office at 920-751-6800 ext. 10102 or jjoch@neenah.k12.wi.us.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2025.
