GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay Packers president/CEO Mark Murphy shared his thoughts Friday on the selection of Ed Policy as his successor.
“He’s worked with us for 12 years, and he’s just really been outstanding,” Murphy said.
While attending the groundbreaking for a football field at Outagamie County’s Plamann Park that is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Murphy answered questions for the first time since Policy’s promotion was announced.
“I’ll officially retire in a little bit more than a year,” Murphy said. “So he and I will work together, and I anticipate a very smooth transition.”
The Packers organization said on Monday that Policy, currently the team’s COO and general counsel, would move into the president’s chair next summer. Organization bylaws require retirement at age 70. Murphy will reach that age in July 2025.
The current president says he’s confident in Policy.
“The Packers will be in very good hands with Ed,” he said.
