(WTAQ-WLUK) — Three entities in Northeast Wisconsin are among 10 recipients being recognized for their energy efficiency and sustainability efforts of 2024 Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards.
The annual Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards are given by Focus on Energy, the state’s sustainability program. It aims to empower Wisconsin residents and businesses to make smart energy decisions and reap the enduring economic benefits.
Among this year’s winners are three local entities:
- Automated Energy Solutions, Inc. – Green Bay
- Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin – Keshena
- Kaysun Corporation – Manitowoc
Another notable winner was the University of Wisconsin-Stout for its campus-wide initiatives.
Focus on Energy says it bestows the annual awards to “extraordinary Wisconsin businesses, schools, farmers, government entities, and contractors.”
Energy efficiency is more than a way to save on their bottom lines. Award winners work with Focus on Energy, and partner utilities, discovering the sometimes “unique” energy solutions we can provide that will reduce the amount of energy used and wasted.
State Sen. Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay), who chairs the state’s Natural Resources & Energy committee, said in a news release, in part:
Homeowners, businesses, and government bodies should always be on the lookout for better ways to manage their use of energy. It’s better for their wallets, better for the environment, and may help lessen the burden of energy rate increases. Each of these recipients deserves praise for finding more efficient ways to carry out their mission…
The Focus on Energy program as a whole has been a massive success. For every dollar spent through its programs, $4.08 has been generated in total economic benefits that stays in our communities, according to the latest independent program analysis. Partnerships like these are a win-win for the public and the groups overseeing them.
