ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two women died in a crash on State Highway 172 in Ashwaubenon Monday morning.
Around 5:50 a.m., crews were dispatched to a report of a one-vehicle crash with injuries on State Highway 172 westbound near Oneida Street.
Officials say a car, driven by a 19-year-old woman from Wabeno, was traveling west on State Highway 172 when the driver lost control of the vehicle just west of the Holmgren Way overpass. The car went down the embankment on the north side of 172, striking multiple trees, ultimately coming to rest against another tree behind a business complex off Oneida Street.
The 19-year-old driver was taken to a Green Bay area hospital with critical injuries. A 16-year-old girl from Green Bay was also transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Two other passengers, a 19-year-old woman from Green Bay and an 18-year-old woman from Wausau, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Brown Co. Highway Department closed one lane of 172 westbound for approximately three hours after the crash.
