(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers led 4-1 after 4 1/2 innings over the San Diego Padres in San Diego Friday night.
Collin Rea gave up a four runs and the bullpen surrendered 4 more.
Hoby Milner gave up 2 runs in the seventh to take the loss and fall to 3-1.
Elvis Peguero and Enoli Paredes both surrendered 1 run.
The Padres’ Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado combined for 9 hits, 6 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Brice Turang, Christian Yelich and Willy Adames each had 2 hits for the Brewers.
The 2 teams meet again Saturday night with a 5:35 pre-game and 6:10 first pitch on 1360 and 97.5 WTAQ.
A series matter: The Brewers are looking to avoid a series loss today…..the team had won its last four series leading into this weekend in San Diego: 2-1 at DET, 2-1 vs. TOR, 2-1 vs. CIN and 2-1 at LAA.
200 – 200 – 300: Christian Yelich needs 1 stolen base for 200 in his career…..Yelich would be the 49th player (5th active) in MLB history to produce 200 HR, 200 SB and 300 doubles and the second ever to reach all of those milestones in the same season, joining the Guardians’ José Ramírez, who did it last season.
No shortage at shortstop: Willy Adames enters the day leading the Major Leagues in RBI (54) as a shortstop…..his 13 HR are tied with Paul DeJong (CWS) for second in the majors from the position, trailing only the Orioles’ Gunnar Henderson (24).
