OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sentencing was delayed Tuesday for a woman who took a gun from an Oconto Falls police officer and shot the officer.
Alisha Kocken, 31, previously pleaded guilty to four counts: attempted first-degree intentional homicide, resisting an officer, battery to an officer, and disarming a peace officer for the Aug. 6, 2021 confrontation with Officer Nicole Blaskowski. Sentencing is now set for June 25.
Kocken was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday. However, Kocken’s attorneys requested an adjournment to allow for more time for an alternate pre-sentence investigation to be completed.
The presentence investigation completed by the Dept. of Corrections wasn’t filed until Tuesday, court records show. That didn’t leave enough time for the defense to prepare.
Kocken was charged after an incident where police were called to an Oconto Falls home. There was a physical confrontation between Kocken and Blaskowski. At one point, Kocken grabbed Blaskowski’s gun and shot the officer, grazing her head and hitting her ballistic vest. Blaskowski was later released from the hospital.
