LITTLE CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police are investigating a physical fight involving more than two dozen people in the front yard of a Little Chute residence that resulted in the homeowner requiring emergency medical treatment.
Fox Valley Metro Police received a report around 12:10 a.m. Sunday for an active disturbance in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Avenue.
It was reported that approximately 25-30 individuals were involved in a physical fight in the front yard of a residence. The suspects were described by witnesses to be approximately 17-20 years old.
“We were advised that white, black, Hispanic and Asian individuals were all involved in this fight,” said Lt. Mark Wery with Fox Valley Metro Police.
Police say during the altercation, a homeowner intervened to assist one of the individuals involved in the fight that he believed to be injured. As the homeowner intervened, he was subsequently assaulted by several members of the group. The homeowner suffered significant injuries, which required emergency medical treatment.
According to Lt. Wery, “Unfortunately, during that incident the homeowner came out to address the juveniles, one being on their property, but two, it appeared someone was in need of assistance during that fight, and to also break up that fight to help that individual out.”
One neighbor said he watched the incident unfold, saying he saw someone being thrown into a tree trunk, head first, not realizing it was his neighbor until the crowd dispersed.
Investigators are conducting a neighborhood canvass and are following up with leads in this investigation. Police are asking neighbors in the area to check home video surveillance cameras for video that may help identify potential suspects or anyone involved in the assault.
Additionally, it was reported that several members involved in the disturbance were video recording the incident.
“If anyone has seen that video that was recorded, shared on social media platforms — Facebook, Snapchat, whatever, TikTok — please let us know. We’d like to see as much as we can to try and identify these individuals,” added Wery.
