The Appleton Flag Day Parade marches down Wisconsin Avenue June 10, 2023. PC: Fox 11 Online
APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Military veterans are being recruited to march together in the Appleton Flag Day Parade.
The unified group will march with the Scarlet Guard American Legion Color Guard in the June 8 parade. Members of any American Legion post, American Legion Auxiliary unit and Sons of the American Legion squadrons are being encouraged to participate.
The first 20 people will receive a handmade walking stick to carry in the parade and keep, courtesy of Vietnam-era Army veteran Chip Waters.
Veterans are asked to wear patriotic or military service apparel and comfortable footwear. No political apparel or signage will be allowed.
Participating marchers will meet at the Appleton American Legion Post 38 parking lot, 3220 W. College Ave. A shuttle bus carrying the veterans to the parade staging area will leave at 1 p.m.
