GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than two dozen area medical students took a big step in their careers Thursday.
Twenty-six Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)-Green Bay students received their Doctor of Medicine degrees in a commencement ceremony.
The ceremony at the Weidner Center on the UW-Green Bay campus was livestreamed online.
Wisconsin is projected to be short 2,263 doctors by 2030, according to a March study by Cicero Institute. Primary care alone is projected to be short 942 providers.
Of the 26 graduates being honored Thursday, 60% of them will remain in Wisconsin to practice.
