WASHINGTON ISLAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down on Door County’s Washington Island last week.
According to the NWS, the tornado touched down at 10:32 p.m. on May 21, reaching wind speeds of up 90 mph.
The tornado went along a 2.28-mile path before ending at 10:34 p.m.
No one was hurt, the report says.
Door County Emergency Management has documented widespread uprooted maple trees, with some trunks snapped. An outbuilding had its walls collapsed by tornado winds and lots of trees were down across the island, most of the trees were pointing north.
The storm system that went through Door County on May 21 was the same that caused a EF-1 tornado in Kaukauna.
