APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Memorial Day is about honoring those who lost their lives fighting for our country and our freedom.
Saturday, the Fox Valley Veterans Council held its annual Veterans Memorial Processional Ceremony outside the Outgamie Veteran’s Memorial Building.
Dozens of community members paid their respects as the ceremony focused on the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing.
The operation is still the largest seaborne invasion in history.
Names of those who gave their lives during World War II were read, and veterans were honored with bagpipes, a rifle salute, and taps.
