It was an old fashioned pitcher’s duel in Miami Wednesday night as the Marlins beat the Brewers 1-0 in the rubber game of the series. The only run of the game came on the fifth pitch thrown by Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta as Jazz Chisolm Jr. swatted a lead off homer in the bottom of the first inning. Peralta would make it through seven, giving up just that run and four hits total while striking out seven. Jesus Luzardo of the Marlins was just a little bit better. He tossed 8 scoreless innings, allowing only three hits while striking out four. The game was over in a snappy one hour and 54 minutes. Gary Sanchez went two for three, William Contreras and Willy Adames each had a knock but the Brewers never really threatened. Luzardo induced 15 pop up or easy fly ball outs. The Brewers have now lost four straight series on the road and slip to 28-21 on the year, but they still lead the NL Central by a game and a half over the Cubs who were beaten by Atlanta 9-2. After a day off Thursday, the Brewers wrap up their longest road trip of the year with a three game series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox beginning Friday night.
