It wasn’t quite Babe Ruth calling his shot, but it was close. Willy Adames was in the on deck circle jawing with fans in the top of the ninth inning with the Brewers trailing the Kansas City Royals 5-3. Manager Pat Murphy could hear him telling fans if I get up I’m going to give us the lead and sure enough, he did. Adames cracked a three run homer off a hanging curveball from James McArthur to deliver Milwaukee’s thrilling 6-5, come from behind victory. It was his 7th homer of the season. Milwaukee got out front early thanks to long balls as Rhys Hoskins and Joey Ortiz went back to back in the second inning off Royals ace Seth Lugo. Kansas City answered with a 4 run rally in the 5th off Milwaukee starter Colin Read. Andrew Monesterio brought Milwaukee back within one with an RBI in the 7th only to have Vinnie Pasquantino cap his three for 5 night with his third RBI knock in the bottom half of the inning. That set the stage for Willy’s brash, big swing. Trevor Megill worked a 1,2,3 ninth for the save as the Brewers evened the series and improved to 21-14 on the year with their major league leading 14th road win of the season. Joe Ross will face Brady Singer in the final game of the series in a matinee at Royals Stadium. Pre-game coverage gets underway at 12:35 PM with a 1:10 PM first pitch on WNFL.
