DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A retired St. Norbert College professor will speak during the institution’s spring Commencement ceremony and receive an honorary doctorate, officials announced Tuesday.
Paul Wadell began his career at St. Norbert College in 1998, teaching theology and religious studies. Wadell received widespread recognition for the “scholarly depth and inspirational impact” of his work and is said to have “raised the profile of the college to national renown in the arena of Catholic intellectual life.”
Wadell is the author or co-author of nine books. He’s also written a long list of scholarly articles, book reviews and publications in the popular press. He was named professor emeritus at St. Norbert College in 2019.
One administrative colleague, drawing on local football history, summed up the difference Paul made here by enthusiastically declaring, “‘Paul’s arrival at St. Norbert is our Reggie White free agent signing!’
