BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The newest option for emergency health care in the Green Bay area opened its doors.
On Wednesday, Green Bay ER & Hospital in Bellevue invited the community to check out its new, state-of-the-art facility at 2465 Monroe Road.
The small facility offers a wide variety of emergency care without the wait.
Open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, it features an on-site laboratory that can perform emergency tests and equipment that can perform x-rays, CT scans, MRIs and ultrasounds.
Matthew Freeman, chief medical officer at the hospital, says the community has a choice in their emergency care and promises to deliver a higher level of care that people may not be used to.
“I’ve worked in the big hospital systems for the majority of my career and the focus is often to see more, do more, with less resources. I’m trying to reset the clock and to bring myself back to a space that reminds me of why I went into medicine in the first place and that’s truly caring for, educating and providing assurances to another human being that’s putting their trust in me,” Freeman said.
The facility has 35-40 staff members. Freeman says all care staff are board certified emergency medicine providers who have years of trauma care experience.
“We can handle any emergency, we can stabilize any patient, we’re trained to do so, and in fact, I’ve traveled throughout this country working in different big hospital systems throughout my career, I was born and raised in Chicago, I’ve worked at a lot of big, busy trauma centers, so myself and the people I hired to represent me and this hospital, we all have very similar backgrounds, we’re all highly skilled, we’re not just graduating residency and coming into this type of arena. Again, we’ve taken the years and have the training to have a certain set of skills and now we’re just using those skills in a different environment,” he said.
