GRAND CHUTE (WTAQ-WLUK) – Multiple agencies responded to an officer-involved shooting in Grand Chute Friday night, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
Just before 6 p.m., deputies with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash in the 2800 block of W. Prospect Ave.
Upon arrival, deputies saw a subject with a knife.
Deputies unsuccessfully used a taser on that person.
Another deputy fired their gun, hitting the subject.
Life-saving measures were performed and the person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to authorities.
No officers were injured.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.
DCI is being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Grand Chute Police Department, Appleton Police Department, a DCI Crime Response Specialist and members of the DCI Digital Evidence Unit.
